Kiss The Sky was established in 1996 and has been serving the Fox Valley and Chicagoland areas for nearly 20 years. In addition to a very large selection of new and used vinyl, Kiss The Sky boasts a mighty fine selection of new and used compact discs, dvd’s and used cassettes. We even have an 8 Track or two or three hidden somewhere beneath the compact disc racks.
In addition to music, we carry band t-shirts, throws and tapestries, incense and oils, bohemian clothing, posters, art prints, and, most importantly, new and used audio equipment such as turntables, phono pre-amps, receivers, speakers and even some cassette decks as well … oh yes, every now and then, we acquire an 8 track or Reel to Reel Tape Recorder/Player that we put out for sale.
Since the beginning, we have been involved in the local music scene as organizers of concerts and festivals, or as promotional support for fund raisers, and as contributors to local artist kickstarter campaigns. In 2011, we formed a small indie record label called Waterloo Sunset Records for the purpose of promoting local area music. Our two full length local area compilations, Made In Aurora Vol.1 and Vol.2 were very successful. Vol.1 was awarded an Independent Music Award and the limited run of 500 vinyl records sold out within a year.
Live music in the store has always been a part of Kiss The Sky’s DNA. From the beginning, we have focused on providing a venue for bands emerging from the garage or for those of a national touring mindset.
Today, the Are You Experienced? Stage is the setting for our Live From Kiss The Sky Living Room Concert Series. Typically, the last Sunday of the month is reserved for the staging of very special and intimate setting shows featuring some of the best that the area has to offer. And that “area” is not solely restricted to the Fox Valley area. Bands from Chicago, Memphis and Seattle, amongst others, have graced our stage. The show schedule can be viewed here.
